I had decided to renew the upholstery
of the boat since the old one after so many years and so many temporary repairs
had became an awful sight. This happened mainly because the old upholstery was
glued upon a layer of batting. By the years and because of humidity, wetness and
extreme heat both the upholstery and the batting had both come apart and
begin to ware (chafe).
So I removed the upholstery (which will be used for a
pattern for the new one) and most of the batting but the remains of the batting especially
those little areas (specially in corners) with glue were the hard part.

I had to remove all these spots because they continually
were chafing and filling up with dirt the boat while they could create problems
later while installing the new upholstery. It was quite difficult removing all
these little spots and initially I used two manual scrapers.
These tools were not adequate for the job involved and needed
very effective (almost brutal) force applied. Then on the last bulleting of the
Snapdragon and Mirage Association I read a comment about the Bosch electric
scraper which I did buy. This tool is now part of my collection and certainly
worth it's money (65 Euros from the Praktiker DIY stores).
