The Alternator of Efaki came with the previous engine (a Yanmar YSE 8). When I installed the new engine(a Kubota D-950 B) I kept the same alternator which I installed with some modifications to the tension arm. There is not a brand name written on it but only a serial number and a mark that it was made in West Germany. (Update: The alternator is probably an old Bosch, machine sensed alternator. Thanks Ray for the info).
There are three connectors on the alternator: These are: B+,D+ and one that only has a sign: +.
It is quite easy to remove and change the carbon brass (is this how they call them?):
Only two bolts keep the carbon brass cover. Inside only a connector exists that is placed as to connect with the carbon brasses when attached.
This is the connector.
The cover inside.
These are the (2) carbon brasses. This page was last updated on April 11th 2002.
Update May 15th 2003: It seams after all that my alternator is only 25 Amps and thus not adequate for my charging needs. It is going to be kept as a back up and a new one (reconditioned) of about 55 Amps will be bought the following days. More on that to follow. Update January 21st 2004: This alternator has been kept as a back up device among other paraphernalia on Efaki. The new Engine a Yanmar 3GM30F came with her own alternator. Hopefully soon I'll have some pictures here. |
